Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that flu and diarrhea cases are rising during this school holiday season.

In a tweet yesterday, HPA has advised the public to wash their hands regularly. This is most important after changing children’s diapers, after using the toilet, and before preparing any food.

A person is said to have diarrhea if they pass loose stool three or more times in 24 hours. It is advised to consult a physician immediately, to protect yourself and others. Furthermore, in case of diarrhea, HPA advises to consume ORS packets and to keep yourself hydrated by taking plenty of fluids.

Due to the increased number of reports of flu and diarrhea, HPA has advised the public to maintain proper hygiene. In addition, to make sure the water is safe, it is best to boil it before drinking. Finally, keep the food inside the house covered to prevent any contamination.
