Parliament passes bill that ensures all children be vaccinated

The Maldives parliament has passed the bill of child protection Act & Juvenile justice which ensures that vaccination is given to children to protect them from diseases.

This bill was submitted to parliament by delegates from the government, constituency member of Addu meedhoo, Ms. Rozaina Adam. The aim of this bill was to strengthen the existing child protection system and to enhance the capacity to ensure the rights of every child.

This bill was passed by the parliament with a total of 66 members voting for the bill.

The bill has declared that the needs of a child from the time of pregnancy and after birth is a responsibility of the parents. Moreover, the vaccination which has to be given to the child within the period is a responsibility of the parents and no parents can deny this responsibility.
