Regional Alliance for Fostering Youth (RAFY) has conducted a blood donation camp on Friday.
The camp was in collaboration with Maldivian Blood Services (MBA) and was held at the MBA building between 14:00-22:00.
Speaking to Doctor.mv, a clinical nurse from Maldivian Blood Services, Ms. Gulisthan Easa claimed that the purpose of this camp was to collect blood for transfusion-dependent patients such as those with thalassemia and those in medical emergencies.
Moreover, she said that within the 8-hour period on Friday, more than 130 volunteers donated blood at the camp.
Blood cannot be manufactured, and must be taken from another human-being. It is a vital service to help save lives. A single donation can help save as much as 3 lives.
