The focus of this fund is for the government to take responsibility of all the medical expenditure of thalassemia patients during their treatment period.

Furthermore, the regulation states that all administration work of this fund will be managed by the Maldivian blood services (MBS).

A group of 7 members will be formed to start the fund. One of these 7 members will be the Health minister, who is responsible for all the finances of this fund. The team also includes 2 members from Maldivian blood services and 1 Nurse. The remaining 3 members are from the ministry and are responsible to regulate the budget.

The chairperson of this committee will be the Health Minister of Maldives and the Deputy Chairperson will be assigned after a poll between the 7 members of this committee.

The money from this fund will be spent on training health workers, awareness programs, and for the treatments of thalassemia patients.
