Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has initiated the works to accredit the hospital according to international standards.
In a press statement released today, the hospital stated that they are working to meet the guidelines set by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare providers (NABH) and by the National Accreditation Board for testing and calibration Laboratories (NABL).
They further stated that the standards set by NABH and NABL are accredited by the International Society for Quality in healthcare (ISQua) as well. Moreover, NABH is the founder member of the Asian Society for Quality in healthcare (ASQua).
In addition, IGMH also stated that the benchmarks placed by NABH and NABL are on the same level as the international standards set by some of the biggest organizations such as the Australian Council on Healthcare standards (ACHS) and the Canadian Hospital.
The process of accreditation involves streamlining the works done and services provided by the hospital according to international standards, easy recognition of the services provided by the public, changes brought to the services provided according to international standards, and sustaining these standards in the long-run, says IGMH.
This also includes maintaining the equipment and machinery used in the hospital according to new standards, and auditing the works done by the hospital as well.
According to IGMH, such a standard helps increase patient safety and trust towards the hospital.
