Male’ atoll health center located in K. Thulusdhoo has organized a diabetes screening program on the occasion of world diabetes day.
The health center stated that this program will be held on the 23rd of November at Kaafu atoll education center in Thulusdhoo. This program will begin at 10:00 and it will last until 16:00, and anyone older than the age of 16 can be part of this program.
During this program, the officials from the health center will be screening patients on their blood pressure, body mass index, and body fat percentage. Furthermore, patients will be provided information on the right weight and height, and on the risk factors of diabetes.
The health center will also allow patients to discuss with a physician regarding their screening results.
Every year, November 14th is marked as the World Diabetes Day. The theme for World Diabetes Day 2018 and 2019 is "The Family and Diabetes".
For preparation of World Diabetes Day, the Health Ministry and other healthcare providers in the Maldives has started awareness programs on diabetes and its effects.
