A circumcision camp in all 19 atolls of the Maldives is set to begin on the 24th of November.

In a press conference held at the Ministry of Health today, managers from 4 regional hospitals shared the details of this camp.

This year’s circumcision camp will be held in all Regional and Atoll hospitals in the Maldives, and is fully covered by Aasandha insurance. Currently, with the exclusion of capital Male’, more than 600 children have registered.

Speaking at the press conference, the managers shared the plans of screening programs that will be conducted for children, and awareness sessions that will be held for their parents. In addition, traditional activities and decoration will be carried out in the hospital as per the parent’s preference.

Furthermore, all equipment and doctor’s teams have been arranged in time for the camp to begin next week. In each hospital, 5-10 children will be circumcised every day. After dispatching the children from the hospital, a medical officer will be assigned to the child, and if any implications occur, the surgeon will consult the patient. Plus, the managers also highlighted that every child will receive a gift from the government of the Maldives.

This circumcision camp has been in works for the past 3 months, and is given high priority. The encouragement from president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Health Minister Abdulla Ameen was pointed out in the press conference today. Moreover, Vice president Faisal Naseem will be present at the opening ceremony of the Circumcision camp in Kulhudhuffushi.

The camp will be held in 18 hospitals across 19 atolls, and will benefit the community immensely, as this allows the children and parents to stay in their atolls and homes instead of travelling to capital Male’ or neighboring Hulhumale’.
