Government has introduced an action plan for elderly people

The action plan for elderly people has highlighted 34 key points as the focus of attention most needed towards the elderly.

To protect the rights of elderly people, the government has introduced an action plan for the elderly. In a special ceremony, this action plan was inaugurated by the First Lady of Maldives, Mrs. Fazna Ahmed.

While introducing the action plan, the Minister of gender, family and social services Ms. Shidhatha Shareef has announced that the government will soon start the construction work to build a residency home for the elderly people in the Maldives.

Moreover, minister Shidhatha has declared that September 1 of each year will be marked as the National elderly day. Minister also stated that it is the responsibility of the community to ensure the good health, care and protection for the elderly people.

The action plan for elderly people has highlighted 34 key points as the focus of attention most needed towards the elderly. This includes ensuring the protection and care needed for elderly people.

Ms. Shidhatha also said that on the occasion of National elderly day, each year they will honor the services of elderly people and share their experience with the future generations. In addition, the government plans to introduce activities and programs related to this day in schools.
