Dhiggaru council located at Meemu Dhiggaru is organizing a cleaning program on Wednesday, November 20th, in association with Dhiggaru Health center.
The president of Dhiggaru council Mr. Ahmed Nishan, said that this program will start this week Wednesday at 15:45. Moreover, he added that this program is part of a collaboration with Dhiggaru Health center and other government bodies.
Mr. Nishan stated that the main purpose of this cleaning program is to keep the island of Dhiggaru clean until the opening of school next year. He even added that the community of Dhiggaru, including school students and staff members of government offices will take part in this program.
Mr. Nishan claimed that due to the bad weather the island has experienced in the past few months, Dhiggaru health center has been reported cases of Dengue. In October, the center reported 10 cases of dengue.
In addition, as a result of heavy rain, the island is facing difficulties in disposing waste.
“If the waste cannot be disposed as soon as possible, there are high chances of diseases spreading” Mr. Nishan said.
The theme for the cleaning program is “Hiy faseyha maahaul akah – Saafu Dhiggaru”.
