Every year November 14th is marked as World Diabetes Day. To celebrate this day Health centers and hospitals in the Maldives are conducting various programs.
On the occasion of the world diabetes day, Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) held an awareness session and screening camp for diabetes in capital Male’.
Moreover, ADK hospital held diabetes screening sessions today from 10:00 to 16:00 at ADK hospital’s garden area.
Health centers in various islands celebrated world diabetes day as well. AA. Mathiveri health center organized diabetes screening sessions in the island, which will be ongoing till 14:00.
Furthermore, Dh. Bandidhoo health center held a “Diabetes Run” and door to door screening on the occasion of this day.
R. Hulhudhuffaru health center has conducted an early morning exercise program aimed towards diabetic patients and the civil service staff of the island.
Many other islands have also participated in celebrating this day and has conducted several events including screening sessions, awareness programs and exercise programs.
The theme for World Diabetes Day 2018 and 2019 is "The Family and Diabetes”.
