Th. Atoll Hospital which is located in Th. Veymandoo, is now offering Dental services for the first time.
A ceremony was held to mark the beginning of this service. The guest of honor was Deputy Minister Ms. Nishama Mohamed.
According to the Ministry of Health, 16,621 people will be able to benefit from this service. Previously, the people of Th. Atoll were referred to capital Male’ and L. Gan Regional Hospital for dental procedures.
Currently, an average of more than 100 people seek medical services from this this hospital every day. At the moment the hospital employs 5 specialist doctors, 2 medical officers, 11 nurses and 9 technical employees.
The dental setup needed for the hospital in order to provide this service, is part of the free aid by the government of Japan. The cost for the setup is expected to be around the MVR 1 million figure. Moreover, the cost of employees needed is expected to be MVR 650,000 per year.
With the establishment of dental services in Th. Atoll Hospital, the hospital can offer common dental procedures to the public.
