The cardiac center will provide all non-invasive cardiac tests including eco cardiogram, treadmill testing and holder monitoring.

In the previous year, 74 patients were referred to other hospitals for CT scans and cardio tests. These patients were in critical condition, hence, most of them were taken in Chartered or Scheduled flights. As a result, the cost rose up to MVR 125,000 per patient on a Chartered flight and MVR 14,966 per patient on a Scheduled flight. Moreover, the patient and their family had to bear extra costs such as accommodation and food. The new scan and cardiac center will result in a massive decrease of costs due to referrals.

Hdh. Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital treats an average of 305 patients every day. And on Saturdays the number of patients increase up to 650. Furthermore, patients from Hdh, HA, and Sh atolls seek services from this hospital. Currently, the hospital employs 28 doctors, 78 nurses and 16 other medical practitioners.

The new scan and cardiac center in Hdh. Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital is expected to treat 64,000 people.  This project is part of a government plan to develop 5 major hospitals in the country.
