After the tragic fire in Male’ there have been talks of possible acidic content in the rain that have been pouring for days as the source of the fire was containers of harmful chemicals. These concerns were met and put to rest by recent tests done by the Maldives Food and Drug Authority this Sunday. The representatives reassured citizens that the results from the samples showed no trace of acidity within the male vicinity nor the surrounding area.

The study was done after public concerns boomed after the massive fire that broke out last Friday displacing around 400 individuals. While the rain does not contain any significant amount of acidity it is important to consider taking precautionary measures as the smoke and ash from the fire may not have fully dissipated. It is also important to note that we are in no way claiming that there is a hazard however, if you are in close proximity to the area of incident it is a good step to cover your mouth and nose to avoid inhalation of ash.
