Henna is not only used as a cosmetic

Even though Henna is famous as a cosmetic product, it has been used for health purposes for generations.

The henna leaves are a common sight for all our childhoods. From the uncomfortable circumcision traditions to the more known use as a cosmetic temporary tattoo. Even though these uses are widely known, Henna has been used for centuries as a medicinal plant in our society as a traditional medicine. Different parts of the plant were used for different properties they offered for different conditions and illnesses.

The Henna ball may be a common sound for a good many people. This is basically the substitute for Panadol in traditional medicine. The process was the simple step of crushing Henna leaves with water and rounding it into a ball to be held by hand. By holding the ball, the body is assisted in reducing its temperature and allowing for a fever to calm down.

In addition, the Panadol of Dhivehi Beys was used for more than fevers. It was an amazing solution to headaches caused due to heat. As before the Henna flower is mixed with water and crushed to be applied on a piece of cloth. The cloth is than placed on the forehead for a most soothing experience.

Henna leaves are also perfect for wounds and burns. The same procedure is followed as before. A crushed extract of the leaves is applied on a cloth and placed in the injured area. Henna is an all-natural antiseptic which protects the body from bacteria and fungus. Reducing chance of infection and inflammations.

Henna water and seeds were also used by early practitioners. However, the use of these have been massively underrated as consumption of Henna water and Seeds works wonders in reducing the blood pressure of the circular system. It also prevents blockage of blood vessels decreasing chance of heart attacks and strokes.

While Henna is being currently used by consumers mainly for the purpose of cosmetics, they are an amazing healthy part of the early traditional medicine that still lives within our society. The plant was utilized in the past and It is time we did the same in the modern days. Next time you take out some henna for your hand try putting it on your forehead.
