A traditional treatment for Joint Pain and Swelling
Traditional Medicine has taught us how to treat joint pain and joint swelling. Mainly two types of Medicine are used. ‘Karaamui’ and ‘Akarakaraa’ (also called Akarkara) oil are two of the most noticeable medicine used. Both of them can be made on your own, and we have showed you how to do it below.
Joint Pain
For joint pain, the choice can be ‘Karaamui’. It is a mixture of the root of Anacyclus Pyrethrum plant and honey. This medicine can also be used to treat Arthritis, numbness, and back pain among others. After preparing it, it can be used for 1 week before being spoilt.
Ingredients:
10 g ‘Akarakaraa’
600 ml rain water
180 ml honey
How to prepare:
- Cut ‘Akarakaraa’ into small pieces and grind it. Mix it with water.
- Boil until 2/3 is left.
- Sieve the remains using a piece of cloth.
- Add honey and boil until bubbles appear. Then mix it well.
- Leave it on fire for 3 minutes.
- Remove the froth.
How to use:
Drink 2 teaspoons 3 times a day. Can be used continuously for 1-3 weeks.
Joint Swelling
For joint swelling one can use ‘Akarakaraa’ oil. ‘Karaamui’ can also be used.
‘Akarakaraa’ oil can be stored for a long period after preparing. It can be used to treat Arthritis, shivering, hamstring stretches and more.
Ingredients:
30g ‘Akarakaraa’
600 ml rain water
600 ml ‘zaithooni’ oil
How to prepare:
- Cut ‘Akarakaraa’ into small pieces, grind and mix with water.
- Boil until ½ is left.
- Sieve using piece of cloth.
- Add ‘zaithooni’ oil and cook until all water has evaporated.
How to use:
Apply oil on joints in the mornings and afternoons. It can be applied 1-2 times.
