The local government of Wuhan, has announced that all public transportation in the city will be closed starting at 10 AM on Thursday.
According to the announcement, this includes local buses, long-distanced buses, subway and ferry.
Moreover, the local government has also decided to cancel all trains and flights that were scheduled to leave the city.
The government also suggests the 11 million residents living in the city, not to leave the city if for no reason, as there is a risk for the virus to spread.
Recently, China’s National Health Commission confirmed that the virus spreads from person-to-person as some health workers caught the virus.
The World Health Organization’s (WHO) emergency committee has met in Geneva, and announced that they will not yet declare a “global emergency”.
The director general said that more information was needed regarding the spread and the committee of experts is scheduled to meet again on Thursday.
Since the initial outbreak in Wuhan, the virus has spread to 5 countries, leaving 500 people infected and 17 dead.
