Home for people with special needs Japan Ministry of Gender and FamilyThe Japanese government has donated MVR 1.3 million to Home for people with special needs located in Kaafu Guraidhoo.
The ambassador of Japan to the Maldives, Ms. Keiko Yanai signed an agreement in a ceremony held for the donation event. The CEO of Home for people with special needs, Mr. Imran Ibrahim signed the agreement on behalf of the center.
The Ministry of gender and family has declared that they will be allocating the funds to upgrade the current status of the clinics in the center and to establish first aid services for occupants. Moreover, the ministry stated that the center expects the living standards of the patients to improve after this redevelopment.
The ambassador stated in her speech that discovering that there were no first aid services available came as a shock to her, and that she is happy to help provide these services at the center.
Apart from the funds, the Japanese government also donated equipment including 4 hospital beds, medical refrigerator, Aspirator, Respirator, electro-cardiograph system and equipment required for emergency minor surgeries.
The funds and equipment were donated under the Japanese government’s “Grant Assistant for grass-roots Human security protects” (GGP) scheme.
There over 200 patients currently residing at the center.
