Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) is preparing to introduce kidney transplant surgeries by the beginning of 2020.
Speaking on Raajje TV “Fala Suruhee” Program, the acting medical director of IGMH, Dr. Yoosuf Shan stated that the main objective of the hospital is to develop current services and to introduce new services.
Dr. Shan revealed that IGMH will introduce gastroenterology services next week, and kidney transplant services during the beginning of 2020.
Dr. Shan even stated that some specialist services such as Neurosurgery, Oncosurgery, cardiology and nephrology services are currently available from IGMH. In the near future the hospital is also planning develop endoscopy services.
“Currently we are doing diagnostic endoscopies. But with the introduction of gastroenterology, the hospital will receive new instruments and we can perform international endoscopies. And during an endoscopy, the patient can undergo many new tests and treatments” said Dr. Shan.
Furthermore, Dr. Shan claimed that before starting kidney transplant services at the hospital, the operation theater has to compile new regulations. He also brought up the fact that some countries do undergo kidney transplantation without regulations. However, this may result in illegal transactions to obtain the vital organ.
