Minister of Health, Mr. Abdulla Ameen confirms that the ministry is working to keep at least 2 doctors on duty in health centers that are operating for 24 hours, before the end of this year.

In today’s parliament, the health minister was summoned by Thimarafushi constituency member Mr. Abdullah Riyaz, regarding the current state of the hospital which is under development at Thaa Thimarafushi.

While answering the question, Minister Ameen highlighted the difficulties occurring due to the lack of doctors working at health centers operating for 24 hours across the country.

“With the work we have done this year, all 24-hour health centers will have at least 2 doctors on duty. By the end of this year doctors will be available in all 24-hour health centers. Even right now, a lot of these health centers have achieved this target.” Minister Ameen stated.

Furthermore, regarding Thimarafushi hospital, the Minister said that the ministry has already finalized the designing and paper work of the hospital and initial works will begin in 2020.
