President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih commences "Nursing Now" campaign

The “Nursing Now” campaign will be based on 5 objectives, and 54 Nurses are expected to participate in the first workshop of this campaign.

The President of Maldives HE Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has commenced the "Nursing Now” campaign.

Maldives Nursing and Midwifery council launched this campaign in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), with the purpose of training Nurses working around the nation.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Solih stated that the Maldivian health industry will need more nurses in the future. According to statistics, 56 percent of the 3300 Nurses currently working in the Maldives are foreigners. There is a deficiency in the number of nurses in relation to the population of Maldives, according to President Solih.

Furthermore, the President stated that major health problems are caused because of focusing only on the capital male. And one step in the action plan of the current government, is to train health workers that can perform heath check-ups door-to-door and raise awareness in the islands. 

In addition, the Maldives Nursing association officially launched their new website in the ceremony. 

The “Nursing Now” campaign will be based on 5 objectives, and 54 Nurses are expected to participate in the first workshop of this campaign.
