The department of radiology in Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has launched the radiation protection program along with personal radiation monitoring badges for the first time in Maldives.
In a press briefing IGMH stated that the main purpose of this program is to ensure the safety of the staff who work near machinery that emit radiation. The badge will help monitor the amount of radiation that a person is exposed to, and this will help establish safety measures for the future.
While speaking at the launching ceremony, CEO of IGMH Mr. Ibrahim Saleem stated that the hospital should increase staff awareness on workplace safety in order to provide quality service to the public.
Furthermore, he also said that the hospital is working to upgrade the quality of services to match the standards set in the “National accreditation board for hospitals and health care providers”.
