A scarf pin was successfully removed from the lung of a 17-year-old girl at IGMH.

Dr. Mohamed Ali, who was part of the surgery team has stated that the patient has recovered well after the surgery.

The pin was embedded into the wall of the airway.

This surgery was undertaken by a team from the National center for respiratory medicine. This team includes Dr. Ali Mohamed, Dr. Mohamed Ismail and anesthesiologist Dr. Barakath. It took a total of 3 hours to successfully complete this surgery.

The team from IGMH has advised the public not to put small items such as scarf pins into their mouth. This is because the chance of it being swallowed is high.
