Tobacco products to be sold with pictorial warning labels starting from December

This is a major leap towards protecting the community against the harmful effects of tobacco products.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that the sale of any type of tobacco products must include pictorial warning labels, starting from the 1st of December 2019.

In a statement released by HPA, the regulation on the packaging and labelling of Tobacco products (no. 2019/R-158) now includes that these types of product labels must have pictorial warning labels which will come under effect starting from December 2019.

Previously, on the 31st of May 2019, the government has also encouraged the importation of Tobacco packets with pictorial warning labels.

The government has also banned the sale of single cigarettes and has increased the import duty on cigarettes.

This is a major leap towards protecting the community against the harmful effects of tobacco products.
